3,000 Daily Visitors, 30 Million Won in Single-Brand Sales... RESPACE’s Planning Power Proven by Data
The Secret to Successfully Landing Online Brands Offline with Tailored Content for Ages 10 to 30
Young Enterprise RESPACE Wins with ‘Dear Market’
In January, 'Dear Market (a flea market)' held at Dongdaemun DDP drew a massive crowd of approximately 3,000 visitors in a single day. Through Dear Market, customers purchased popular items from 40 active online brands at reasonable prices. The key figure behind successfully bringing online brands into the offline market is Dong-in Yeo, CEO of the event planning company RESPACE.
RESPACE operates through two main streams: self-planned events and agency businesses. They directly develop and create about two major self-planned events. 'What We Wear', which focuses on online shopping malls such as 'A-in' and 'Haneul Haneul', primarily targets teenagers. Meanwhile, 'Dear Market', which revolves around designer brands, is held twice a year, targeting customers in their 20s and 30s.
CEO Yeo’s strategy for differentiation includes the unveiling of new products, maintaining inventory that is at most one year old, and flexible discounting. In the case of the brand ‘oioi’, it recorded 30 million won in sales in just one day through Dear Market. This was a result of the synergy between creative planning and the latest trends. The blueprint of CEO Yeo, who says he "draws a picture in his mind" every time he plans an event, has clearly paid off.
"I didn't focus solely on selling products and making a profit. My main goal is to create a culture unique to RESPACE," Yeo said, sharing his ambition. "I want to build a loyal audience that breathes together with the various events we plan and create. Starting with fashion, we plan to be active in various categories like festivals and cultural events. In the future, I want to grow into a cultural enterprise that creates new cultures."
RESPACE is set to open an office-cum-pub in Yeonnam-dong, Seoul, in mid-April. In this building, notable for its old billiard hall windows, the five employees, including CEO Yeo, will work as office staff during the day and as "pub keepers" in the evening.
